Rain Brings Ideal Conditions for Strong Sturgeon Action and a Shift From the Fall Walleye Bite

Finally! Rain is a good thing. The river is setting up to be a repeat of last year. We had perfect conditions for loads of shad in the system. This totally kills the walleye bite in the fall, but makes for great sturgeon fishing. I’m not upset about that, as the lake sturgeon has become my favorite fish to catch. The majority of my clients had no issues at all targeting sturgeon instead of walleye. If you’ve never felt the rush of a good sturgeon tug, then you haven’t lived!!!

His passion for fishing, combined with the knowledge he gained from local anglers who had fished the river for over 30 years, inspired him to become a fishing guide.
