Pro V 200 Handles 5-Foot Rollers as Brandan Finds Success Jigging the Outers

First time on Superior! We put the Hewescraft Boats Pro V 200 to the test in 5 foot rollers. It handled great. We did a long run to the outers and jigged up some Lakers. Brandan definitely had the hot stick 🔥sniping them with the LVS34. I’ll definitely be doing more trips up to the big water if anyone’s interested in going up for the spring run.

Rain Brings Ideal Conditions for Strong Sturgeon Action and a Shift From the Fall Walleye Bite

Finally! Rain is a good thing. The river is setting up to be a repeat of last year. We had perfect conditions for loads of shad in the system. This totally kills the walleye bite in the fall, but makes for great sturgeon fishing. I’m not upset about that, as the lake sturgeon has become my favorite fish to catch. The majority of my clients had no issues at all targeting sturgeon instead of walleye. If you’ve never felt the rush of a good sturgeon tug, then you haven’t lived!!!

It was a beautiful June afternoon when Troy and their crew joined us for a Private 4-5 Hour Afternoon Fishing Trip In St. Croix River with Croix Boys Guided Adventures. The weather was perfect, with partly cloudy skies and great water conditions – ideal for some productive fishing on the St. Croix. We met up at 9134 MN-95 and got everyone all set up and ready to go.

As we headed out, the anticipation was high. We decided to try a mix of techniques, including DeepSea, Jigging, and Trolling, to cover different depths and see what the fish were responding to. The action was consistent, with rods bending and lines peeling off, but unfortunately, we just couldn't seem to hook into anything substantial. Though we didn't manage to land any big prize, we still had a great time out on the water, enjoying the scenery and good company.

The afternoon flew by, filled with laughs, strategic discussions, and the constant thrill of the chase. Even without any major catches, the energy on board was fantastic. Everyone was engaged, learning new techniques, and just soaking up the experience of being out on the St. Croix. That's what these trips are all about – making memories, connecting with nature, and enjoying quality time with friends, old and new.

Hooking Into Excitement: A Captivating Afternoon on the St. Croix River

Cruising the St. Croix: An Afternoon Fishing Adventure

We had a great morning out on the water with Daniel and their crew for our Private Morning 4-Hour River Fishing Trip on the St. Croix River. June is a wonderful time to be out on the river, as the Walleye are actively feeding and the weather is pleasant and comfortable.

We launched the boat at 8:00 AM from 9134 MN-95 and wasted no time getting our lines in the water. The water conditions were excellent, with just the right mix of depth and current to target the Walleye. We employed a variety of techniques, including DeepSea fishing, Jigging, and Trolling, to cover different areas of the river and find where the fish were holding.

The action was steady throughout the trip, and we managed to land a nice mix of Walleye. The fish put up a great fight, testing our skills and keeping the excitement high. In between catches, we took in the beautiful St. Croix River scenery and enjoyed the camaraderie of the group. It was just an all-around fantastic morning on the water.

Croix Boys Guided Adventures The Ultimate Fishing Charter Experience from MN

Captain Ryan Bunnell’s love for fishing began at a young age, when he spent countless hours fishing with his dad on Lake of the Woods, Red Lake, and the Red River. His passion for the sport grew stronger with each fishing trip, especially when he got his first taste of walleye fishing. At just 13 years old, Ryan made headlines when he built a raft to get closer to his fishing spots, a creative move that caught the attention of the DNR and led to a fun and memorable experience with his father. After high school, Ryan proudly served in the Marine Corps as an 1812 Tank Crewman, and in 2014, he ventured into the business world with Marine Clean, eventually settling in Stillwater, Minnesota. It was in Stillwater that Ryan discovered the abundance of fishing opportunities on the St. Croix River. His passion for fishing, combined with the knowledge he gained from local anglers who had fished the river for over 30 years, inspired him to become a fishing guide. Today, as a USCG Licensed OUPV Captain, Ryan shares his love for the St. Croix River and its incredible fishing experiences with others. Whether it’s walleye fishing, smallmouth bass fishing, or ice fishing, Captain Ryan’s expertise and enthusiasm make every trip memorable for his clients. Captain Ryan Bunnell employs a variety of effective fishing techniques to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience on the St. Croix River. For bottom fishing, he targets species like walleye and smallmouth bass by using specialized rigs and baits to attract fish near the riverbed. Trolling is another technique Ryan expertly uses, especially for covering large areas and targeting fish at different depths, with Rapalas and live bait being some of his go-to tools. Additionally, Ryan utilizes jigging, a technique that involves quick, sharp movements to entice fish, particularly when targeting species like walleye and bass. With his knowledge of these diverse methods, Captain Ryan adapts to the conditions of the river, ensuring a productive fishing trip for all his clients. The Boat - Captain Ryan Bunnell's 21-foot SunChaser pontoon boat is the perfect vessel for a comfortable and enjoyable fishing experience on the St. Croix River.
